Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 21:53 Remakes, or, more recently, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.
Ahead of a playthrough (and purchase) of MGS4 at the end of this month, i've been playing through the MGS trilogy- against my better judgement, it included the Gamecube's Twin Snakes rather than the PSOne original. Don't get me wrong, it was great playing through the game again, but this is yet another remake that completely butchers the original. The cut-scenes are stupid -stupid even for the MGS series.There's no VR Missions, and villains Ocelot and Liquid are nowhere near as badass as previously- it's a total mess that fucks with my nostalgia.
Never again.

The weather-too hot or too wet, but never a nice in-between compromise. Endless attacks by beasties. Sleepless nights, and going to bed when it's still daylight. Shit TV, and the horrible stench of barbecues. Glares on screens, and the forever pouring sweat. Hayfever, that time when all the annoying little school kids are on holiday, holidays in general, and people either wearing too much clothes or not enough. Shorts, hairy legs, topless male bellies. Altogether, a culmination of awful.

Being the geek that I am I saw the second season months ago, but with my rewatching of it as BBC2 finally gets round to airing it, two things are still immediately clear from that primary viewing. One, the episodes and stories are nowhere near as good as that of the opening year, Two, West is an irritating twat who deserves to be forgotten about for all coming episodes.

You wait your entire childhood waiting for wireless joypads, forever cursing tangled cables, and wishing they become standard. Then they do, and they sap away all the batteries in the house. Before long, you're back to your old ways and using joypads and wires you've come to despise.

I'm pretty sure i've got some 24 DVDs that suffer the same problem- undoubtedly the show the 'Play All' function was invented for. It's nonsense.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 13:01 After months of wondering why, earlier this week I canceled my Facebook account.
Like MySpace previously, I had registered simply out of curiosity and media buzz (honest), but again, like MySpace, the site is a horrible mess of popularity and pointlessness. Sure, the site says it's a "social utility that connects you with the people around you", but I don't need that anyway- i've already got email, a phone, the internet, it's basically just adding another step to what should already be a completely easy process. Finding old friends i've lost touch with similarly is also of no real benefit- hence the very reason they're not my friends anymore, something that should be blindingly obvious. Eh, I don't even know why i'm justifying myself.
Facebook's growing in popularity every day, but if anyone wants me, i'll be here. I know already that Blogging has provided me with a far more social experience than Facebook could ever provide.
